From humble origins, Elder Bros Farms roots began in Hungary, a country with a rich culinary tradition with Attila Lepsis. Fascinated by the art of creating delicious dishes and beverages, Attila spent his summers working on the family farm, tending to the orchards and selling products at farmers markets with his grandparents. Under the guidance of his grandfather, Lepsis learned the secrets of making traditional Hungarian spirits in the family barn. After graduating from the prestigious Taverna Culinary Arts School, he vowed to bring his unique blend of traditional European flavors and modern culinary techniques to the world.
Attila had a long and successful career as a chef in Hungary, but in 2000 he decided to take a chance on a new adventure by moving to Canada with his wife Neomi and opening their own Hungarian European restaurant. Tragically, the restaurant was forced to close due to an arson in the neighborhood, but Attila did not let this setback discourage him.
Attila longed for the days he spent at the farm in Hungary and wanted to share that with his growing family. In 2016, the couple purchased their farm and moved with their two sons to the heart of the Rocky Mountains near Cranbrook, British Columbia and Attila decided to pursue his passion for creating high-quality craft spirits. He set out to work establishing an elderflower farm and a distillery to begin producing European-style fruit spirits.
Sharing his spirits with friends and family, Attila sold his small batch of fruit spirits to his loyal customers. Determined to create a truly exceptional liqueur that would stand out, after years of development he perfected his Elderflower Liqueur. His hard work paid off when the liqueur took home the highest honor, a coveted double gold medal from the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, filling Attila and his family with pride and excitement.
Encouraged by this success, Attila set his sights on creating another unique and innovative product with roots from his childhood. He and Neomi remembered the smell of fresh baked apple pastries from their grandparent’s kitchen. The Apple Strudel was born, an irresistible and nostalgic taste combining old world and new world flavors which quickly gained a devoted following, becoming the best-selling product at the largest spirits festivals in Western Canada.
At the family-run operation, Attila, Neomi, and their boys are dedicated to creating high quality, and unique products, to bring the timeless European flair into the spotlight. They use traditional techniques and the finest ingredients to create a line of spirits that truly stands out from the rest. Their passion is crafting unique and flavorful products, bringing the luxurious taste of European spirits with a farm fresh finish to customers everywhere.
